About the data collection
Transparency regarding the funding of political parties contributes to ensuring the public’s right to access and also counteracts corruption and undesired connections.
All political parties therefore have complete accounting, bookkeeping and reporting obligations pursuant to the Political Parties Act. The exception is parties whose total income during the year is less than NOK 12 000 after the deduction of all public grants. They are obliged to submit a declaration that their income for the year has been below this level.
The reporting obligation applies to all levels of the political parties:
- main organisation
- central youth organisation
- county organisation
- county youth organisation
- municipal organisation
Statistics Norway is the register for the parties and the party units’ reporting, cf. the Political Parties Act Section 22, subsection two and the Political Parties Regulations Section 2-1. Statistics Norway facilitates reporting, collates and publishes the information. The reporting for the parties occurs via a digital form in Altinn. The deadline for reporting is 1 June.
